Healing Mom: My Diastasis Recti Story (week 2 update)

Yay, another week of the MuTu System is done! I've noticed some pretty HUGE changes this week, so let's get right to it!

What I've noticed this week:

  • At the start of the month, my diastasis recti gap was 3-4 fingers wide (3 above bellybutton, 4 at bellybutton). I honestly was expecting no results this early on in the MuTu program, but when I measured my gap this week . . . IT IS ONLY 1.5-2 FINGERS WIDE!!!!!!!!!!! That, my friends, IS HUGE! I am very excited about this! Plus, it means I will be able to start the intensive workouts this next week (you are not supposed to start them if your gap remains wider than 2 fingers).
  • I usually sleep on my side and for the last several years, I've always felt like my insides were falling out of my body (probably because . . . they were). I noticed Sunday night that I didn't feel that way anymore. My muscles are beginning to do their job and keep everything right where it is supposed to be. It is amazing to feel like everything is being held in without having to think about it. This, my friends, is also huge!
  • I've noticed a pretty big change in the "mummy tummy" I have remaining. Because the muscles are beginning to work, it's no longer "full" like it used to be. As I have 15lbs of baby weight left to lose (working on it!), most of what is left now seems to just be belly fat & loose skin. I am looking forward to continuing to strengthen my core muscles as I lose that last little bit of weight!

Progress is a wonderful thing :-D Like I said last week, there will be no bare belly pics, but I can tell you that at the skin level there is now some definition between the end of my rib cage and stomach. It's been a couple years since I've seen that. I'm excited to start the intensives this next week as I continue to strengthen my core. See you next week!
